I have the opposite observation. This set is far more useful than the progman set. Some examples: Fancy MS-DOS logo -> obsolete by the Win95 version of the MS-DOS logo (oh well) Microsoft Basic Compiler -> would have been far more useful if it didn't have the MS-DOS inset. Microsoft Project -> ditto; but this time as a file format icon APPLAUSE II 1.5 -> We used this one for Basic or Xtree Gold.
